Hotels listed below are central and a short walk to our workshop location, readings and Spanish lessons. Colonial hotels offer large rooms, very high ceilings and tile floors. All prices are in U.S. dollars.

 

Hotel Caribe  (above) Colonial, former 17th century San Idelfonso College, one block from the Main Plaza, located at Calle 59 y 60, restaurant, outdoor cafe on Parque Hidalgo, with a rooftop pool overlooking the cathedral, free wireless internet in all areas, a p.c. and printer for guest usage,  cable t.v.,  safety deposit box in room (three levels-no elevator.) Hotel Caribe


The legendary Gran Hotel is next door to Hotel Caribe on Parque Hidalgo, old Mérida grandeur, built in 1901 during Mérida time of great affluence, large colonial non-smoking rooms, decorative pasta tile floors, free wireless internet in rooms, outdoor cafe on the park, ask for a room w/balcony, safety box, approx. $53 single, $72 double, 25 rooms.

Gran Hotel

La Mision de Fray Diego, colonial, centrally located near the Main Plaza (located at Calle 61, between Calle 64 y 66) - 3 blocks from Hotel Caribe and across the street from our favorite restaurant: La Casa de Frida. Beautiful former 17th century convent, pool, restaurant, free wireless internet in all areas, non-smoking hotel, safety deposit box in room, rates approx. $106+up nightly, 26 rooms.


La Mision de Fray Diego


Hotel Medio Mundo, former colonial home, a favorite Merida retreat, quiet, pleasant pool w/mini juice+snack bar, spacious rooms w/ceiling fans, no phone or t.v. in room, comfy beds, free wifi in public areas only, rates approx. $75-90, 12 rooms.


Casa Ana B&B  Homey and very near all USPiM activities, just few blocks from the Main Plaza, located on Calle 52, between Calle 51 y 53), pool, no phone or t.v. in room, breakfast included, beverages available, Cuban dinner upon request, rates approx. $40-50, 5 rooms.
