Travel Information for Playa del Carmen

1.  Fly into Cancun airport (CUN)

a. Cancun to Playa del Carmen: Take a bus for one hour.   Buses coming from Cancun and from arrive at the bus station, at the corner of Juárez and 5 Avenue. Most likely, you will be able to walk to your hotel upon arrival at the PdC bus station. Cost: approx. $8-10 (106 pesos). You can purchase a ticket online (Cancun Aeropuerto, QRoo to Playa del Carmen, QRoo)  here or at the airport-walk to your right, you will see the bus marquee displaying Playa del Carmen-and someone selling tickets outside. This is the preferred way to get to Playa from Cancun Airport.  Most people loading into white vans (collectivos) are going to the Cancun Hotel Zone. Do not let anyone grab your bags and put you into a taxi or collectivo. Approx. bus schedule:

Cancun airport to Playa: 10:30, 11:45, 12:45, 13:45, 14:45, 15:45, 16:45, 17:45, 18:45, 19:45, 20:45
Playa to Cancun airport: 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18.15

2.  Fly into Cozumel airport (CZM)

Cozumel to Playa del Carmen:  Take a taxi to the ferry (a few dollars) and then take the ferry across to Centro in Playa (45 minutes and $11 one way). The ferry lets you out in the heart of everything.  More than likely, you can walk to your hotel from there (unless you have excessive luggage). Returning from Playa to Cozumel, the ferry dock is at the south end of Playa near Paseo del Carmen.

**Note: A taxi from Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen (one way) will cost approximately $65 USD! Most people take the bus!
