Arriving at Cozumel or Cancun:


1.   Fly into Cozumel airport: then take an airport van from the airport to the ferry, take the ferry to Playa del Carmen ($11 one way, 45 mins). Walk straight to the Playa del Carmen bus station, very close. Take a bus to Tulum Pueblo. Then a taxi to your beach hotel (unless you are staying in the town of Tulum, then you can most likely walk to your hotel). If you want to save $, walk outside the Cozumel airport to waiting taxi's or white van collectivos, they will cost much less-they are not permitted to pick up inside the airport.

2.  Fly into Cancun Airport (CUN)   A bus will depart directly from the airport to Tulum. Purchase a ticket at the ADO counter in the airport, just before you exit.  Then walk outside to your right to board the ADO bus marked "Playa del Carmen". Cost: approx. $12. (120 pesos). Takes about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. It is about 1 hour or so to Playa del Carmen. The bus will stop in the Playa del Carmen bus depot for 10 mins and then continue on to Tulum Pueblo (another 45 mins-1 hour).


Once in Tulum: Plentiful taxis 24/7. It will cost approx. $3.50-$5 from town to the beach hotels/cabanas, depending on how far down the beach road you plan to stay.


Departing from Tulum Pueblo:

The main ADO bus terminal is located on Tulum Avenue on the west side towards the South end of town.

The climate in Playa del Carmen is sub-tropical, which means it is almost always warm. The average high temperatures in January range from 80 to 85. The average low temperatures range from 68 to 75.
