Our Mission
U.S. Poets in Mexico brings American and Mexican poets together to collaborate, work to strengthen their own writing, to expand public audiences for poetry from both nations and to further literary cultural awareness between Mexico and the United States.
Our Future
Our future holds many poetry related opportunities for both American and Mexican poets, including:
Workshop Program: Our annual workshops will continue to bring American and Mexican poets together to strengthen their work and collaborate while in Mexico;
Residencies: Our residency program, Two Voices and One Vision (dos voces y una visión), will promote collaborations or translations between Mexican and American poets. We will provide a residence from two weeks to one month, for one Mexican poet and one American poet to work on translations of each others poems or collaborate on new work. The month-long projects will be filmed as a documentary film, followed by a reading and film tour and then a chapbook publication. Our first residency will begin in June 2010.
Publications: Bilingual translations of Mexican and American poets in chapbook or art book form.
