Merida, Yucatan - Where we started our program!

Our Mission

USPiM brings American and Mexican poets together to collaborate, work to strengthen their own writing, to expand public audiences for poetry from both nations and thereby further literary cultural awareness between Mexico and the United States.

Our Future

Our future holds many poetry related opportunities for both American and Mexican poets, including:

Annual Workshops & Festival:
Our workshops will continue to bring American and Mexican poets together in Mexico to strengthen their work and collaborate while in Mexico.

Translation Residency: Two Voices and One Vision (dos voces y una visión).  A documentary film will be produced for selected residencies. Each film will demonstrate different approaches to translating poetry and the translation process in general.  The camaraderie during the translation process will be stressed, as well as a creative way to learn a new language and promote cultural understanding.  ***The new TV+OV website is under construction.

USPiM Residency:  We will provide residencies for American and Mexican poets in colonial cities in Mexico for two weeks to a month for the creation of new work.

Publications:  Partnering with non-profit publishers to publish chapbooks of bilingual translations by Mexican and American poets produced in our Residency program or producing USPiM chapbooks or broadsides.

Furthering our literary journal, Pyramid

We hope you will continue to visit this website during the realization of our programs & projects.
